This is an exciting opportunity to join the Feeding and Eating Disorders Team. There are excellent opportunities to develop skills in working with children and their families across the full age range, and simultaneously develop skills, knowledge and expertise across a number of different areas of psychological practice including paediatrics, neurodevelopmental conditions and co‑occurring mental health conditions.

You will be part of a diverse MDT, with opportunities to work with psychotherapy, systemic and family therapy, clinical nurse specialists, dieticians, psychiatrists, paediatricians, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists.

As a national specialist service, there are opportunities for teaching and training to improve knowledge, care and understanding for this cohort. We have regular reflective practice sessions, teaching, and academic research meetings with key researchers in the field, where there are opportunities to contribute to the evidence base.

The team sits within the Mental Health Psychology Stream within Psychological and Mental Health Services PAMHS. There are approximately 90 members of psychology staff, who participate in special interest groups (SIGs), an anti‑racism practice group and other service wide initiatives. There are weekly clinical academic departmental presentations, opportunities to observe other teams and contribute to department and trust wide activities.

• Post‑graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS/HCPC, including clinical psychometrics, eating disorders and lifespan developmental psychology or post‑graduate (Masters level) qualification in Family and Systemic Psychotherapy as accredited by AFT.

• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity.
• Experience of working with people with feeding and/or eating disorders
• Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities
• Experience of working with people with neurodevelopmental conditions including ASD and ADHD
• Experience of the application of psychology and/or systemic and family psychotherapy in different cultural contexts and of working in a multicultural framework
• Experience of group interventions with children & young people and parents/carers

• Skills in the use of complex methods of systemic or psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
• Well‑developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, their carers, and other professionals.
• Skills in designing and creating resources and session plans to make psychological ideas more accessible for children and young people
• Ability to prepare concise, evidence‑based, coherent reports summarising large volumes of information from multiple sources.
• Evidence of skilled and productive multidisciplinary team working
