Job Overview
The Rotational Clinical Services Pharmacist role at Moorfields Eye Hospital offers experience across outpatient, daycare, medicines information and paediatric rotations. The post holder will work at the City Road site and satellite pharmacies within the Moorfields North and South networks.
Main Duties- Assist in the provision of a patient‑focused clinical pharmacy service to wards and departments throughout the Trust and its network sites.
- Provide a clinical pharmacy and dispensing service for patients in the outpatient and daycare settings, including private practice, and at the Richard Desmond Children’s Eye Centre (RDCEC). Include a rotation within the Moorfields network satellite pharmacies.
- Assist in the specialist Ophthalmic Medicines Information Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
- Participate in the structured band 6 training programme and perform clinical checks on prescriptions.
- Manage and prioritise workload, organise rota and perform accuracy checks on dispensed medicines.
- Counsel patients on medication use and handle queries, complaints and controlled drug checks.
- Report medication incidents, generate invoices, manage invoice queries and communicate with primary care colleagues.

Job Description & Main Responsibilities
- Act as responsible pharmacist and professional lead in dispensary services.
- Ensure safety, security of staff and drugs and comply with Medicines Act legislation.
- Perform clinical checks, monitor prescriptions, ensure medicines are prescribed according to the Trust formulary.
- Counsel patients, deal with queries, and maintain accurate record keeping for controlled drugs.
- Report incidents and interventions, and manage financial aspects of prescriptions and invoices.
- Pharmacy degree, MPharm or equivalent.
- Registered with GPhC.
- 1 year pre‑registration training.
- Recent pharmacy experience (essential).
- Experience working in a hospital pharmacy and the field of ophthalmology (desirable).
- Experience in Medicines Information (desirable).
- Good knowledge of clinical pharmacy and drug dosage selection.
- Strong clinical skills to analyse drug charts and prescriptions.
- Excellent organisational, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Patient counselling, independent initiative and accountability.
- Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and possess IT and keyboard proficiency.
- Enthusiastic, motivated team player.
- Friendly, polite, approachable and assertive under pressure.
- Proactive, confident communicator; handles conflict effectively.
- Flexible for weekends, bank holidays and evening shifts.
