5)
Join Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Senior Pharmacy Technician for Clinical Trials. The post holder will carry out the role for Clinical Trials and will be responsible for the duties listed under Responsibilities and Main Duties below.
Responsibilities- Assist in the provision, maintenance and development of Clinical Trials Pharmacy Services provided to the Trust.
- Support the Lead Pharmacy Technician for Clinical Trials with day-to-day management and supervision of the pharmacy Clinical Trials services and dispensing activities.
- Assist in the management of the security, recording and maintenance of all Clinical Trial drugs from receipt, storage, return or destruction.
- Ensure that all clinical trials within the Trust are pharmaceutically managed, maintained, and that current legislation is followed so that research is carried out to the highest standard.
- Train pharmacy, medical and nursing staff on relevant aspects of clinical trials, services and medication.
- Support Lead Pharmacy Technician for Clinical Trials with day-to-day management of the pharmacy clinical trials services.
- Assist with the efficient operation of dispensing services within the Clinical Trials, ensuring clinical trial protocols and SOPs are followed and that the Clinical Trials activity trackers are maintained.
- Ensure the security, recording and maintenance of all Clinical Trial drugs from ordering, receipt, storage, return and destruction.
- Responsible for ensuring that patient returns are appropriately handled, stored and destroyed, and adequate drug accountability is maintained.
- Ensure prompt registration to the IWRS for each new trial and that the IWRS tracker is updated.
- Ensure prompt receipt of shipments and management of temperature excursions according to the trial’s procedures.
- Maintain and record environmental conditions; assist with yearly calibration of equipment.
- Assist with monitoring visits and timely resolution of related monitoring queries.
- Assist with recording of pharmacy activities for costing purposes on the CT Pharmacy costing trackers, EDGE and resolving costing queries.
- Essential: NVQ level 3/BTEC equivalent in Pharmaceutical Science
- Desirable:
Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification or working towards; previous experience in Clinical Trials or Research and Development; experience of policy/guideline development - Registration:
Registered as a pharmacy technician with GPhC - CPD:
Mandatory CPD
- Act as a role model and provide E&T support on Clinical Trials medicines and processes; undertake CPD as required by GPhC; contribute to training of multidisciplinary team; develop and motivate staff.
- Provide supervision, support, and training to rotational pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and ATOs; assist with training assessments.
- Ensure service delivery complies with statutory requirements and professional standards (GPhC, RPS); monitor compliance with legislation including Human Medicines Regulations and Health and Safety.
- Assist in supervision of junior staff within the Pharmacy Clinical Trials section; support scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and no-blame performance reviews.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR; be a role model for the profession; participate in audits and cost-tracking activities as required.
