Job titleClinical Development Scientist
The roleWe’re seeking a curious, creative, and motivated individual to help build an innovation-driven, early-stage Med Tech spin-out and shape the future of surgery. You’ll play a pivotal role in developing our next-generation imaging system to address pressing clinical needs. As a Clinical Development Scientist, you will bridge the gap between clinical and technical teams, with the unique ability to help steer the clinical development of our hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology to maximise its clinical potential.
WhatYou’ll Do
Driving Clinical Trials
- Identify clinical needs and help address these as part of the development of our next-generation HSI-enabled vision system for surgery.
- Play a critical role in the planning, execution, and management of clinical trials and research studies in accordance with ISO 14155.
- Support the selection and management of clinical research sites, investigators, and external vendors, ensuring compliance with study protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Support the deployment of the medical imaging devices in theatres.
- Collaborate closely with surgical teams to ensure adherence to clinical protocols and the collection of high-quality clinical data.
Shaping Product Innovation and User Experience
- Contribute to the specification and design of novel solutions combining software and hardware technology to ensure future products best address these needs.
- Observe and document system usability, feeding insights into usability engineering and risk management processes under IEC 62366 and ISO 14971.
- Collaborate with technical teams during the product development cycle within our ISO 13485 Quality Management System.
Transforming Data into Insights
- Manage, analyse and interpret clinical trial data, collaborating with research scientists and clinicians to generate actionable insights.
- Contribute to the preparations and presentation of study findings and clinical trial results to internal and external stakeholders, including at scientific conferences, to support regulatory submissions, and for medical professionals.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including medical professionals, researchers, and regulatory specialists, to design and implement clinical development strategies that advance our HSI technology.
At Hypervision Surgical, we welcome candidates who have the core skills for the post and are keen to learn and grow with us. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where a diverse mix of talented people come and enjoy working with each other. By working together, we will change the way surgery is performed and improve patient care.
About usHypervision Surgical Ltd is a spin-out company formed from King’s College London and was founded by a team of clinicians, medical imaging and artificial intelligence (AI) experts. Using safe light alone, our goal is to equip clinicians with advanced computer-assisted tissue analysis for improved surgical precision and patient safety.
We have developed a computational hyperspectral imaging (HSI) system for improved intraoperative surgical guidance. By splitting light into multiple wavelengths far beyond what the naked eye can see, HSI captures diagnostic information about tissue properties to enable objective tissue characterisation—without injecting exogenous contrast agents. our system can monitor vital physiological tissue properties, thereby increasing surgical precision and patient safety while optimising resection.
Following successful in-patient clinical studies and development of a commercial medical device, we are excited to now place our patented technology into the hands of surgeons. We operate at the intersection of surgery, machine learning, and interventional image computing for optical systems, and are backed by the Royal Academy of Engineering, Innovate UK, NIHR (National Institute for Health Research), the Creative Destruction Lab, and King’s Health Partners Med Tech Innovations to improve surgical care.
Join us and help shape our growth toward Series A and beyond.
