Location: Greater London

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Tower Hamlets are seeking a Highly Specialist Practitioner to work in our socially and culturally diverse borough.

This is a full-time community-based post located with 6 sessions within our Emotional & Behavioural Team 2 and 4 sessions withinour Triage Team of Tower Hamlets CAMHS.

Main duties of the job

Within the Triage team, the post-holder will be expected to assist our service users inmoving smoothly through the referral, treatment and discharge processes within the service and to and from other services in their designated Borough. Theywill play a pivotal role in ensuring that families experience ease of entry to and a seamlesstransition between services, and that they feel supported to access the right service at theright time even when their needs are complex and may involve input from multiple teams.

Within the EB team, we aim to deliver timely and comprehensive assessment and treatment service, offering goal-based episodes of care to children and young people and families. Alongside individual case work there are a range of groups such as DBT, NVR parenting and Behaviour Management for parents of children with Neurodevelopmental Difficulties. There are opportunities to have consultations from colleagues to support casework (such as Trauma, Psychotherapy consultations).

We also have well established People Participation groups for parents and young people.

The service embraces continual improvement and the staff and management team have a high degree of enthusiasm for quality improvement.

Person Specification Education/ Qualification/ Training
  • Qualification in appropriate mental health/social welfare professions including:
    Family & Systemic Psychotherapist / Clinical Psychologist / Counselling Psychologist / Occupational Therapist / Social Worker / Art Therapist/Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health)
  • Appropriate level of qualification for your profession e.g. BSc, Masters or Doctorate
  • Registration with appropriate professional body (e.g. UKCP, HCP, NMC etc.)
  • Evidence of continuous and relevant professional training and development (CPD) in keeping with qualification period
Knowledge, Skills, Experience
  • Previous experience of working in CAMHS
  • Experience of delivering evidence-based assessment and treatments with children and young people
  • Experience of risk assessment and risk management, including crisis presentations and safeguarding
  • Experience of working in a culturally diverse area and inner city area, and delivering culturally competent care, including working with cultural advocates and/or interpreters
  • Experience of adapting interventions for children and young people who may have mental health needs in the context of neuro variance
  • Experience of delivering trauma-informed practice and providing evidence based psychological interventions for trauma
  • Experience of screening and managing referrals
  • Experience, skills and flexibility to contribute to and facilitate effective working within a multi-disciplinary team setting
  • Experience of working with partner agencies (e.g. education, social care) to support children and young people
  • Experience of service development
  • A high degree of self-awareness and an ability to reflect on personal and professional attitudes and accept feedback
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience of consultation
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision to others
