Duration: 3 months (potential to extend)

Job Overview

Pulse is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join an adult acute care team at Charing Cross Hospital
. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled clinician to work across the Hyperacute and Acute Units
, providing essential care to patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.

This role is best suited to a therapist with previous acute inpatient experience
, who can work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment. You’ll be working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, contributing to high-quality patient care in a well-established NHS trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently assess, diagnose, and manage adult inpatients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
    .
  • Deliver high-quality interventions, prioritising patient safety and recovery across acute and hyperacute wards.
  • Collaborate closely with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals to ensure joined-up care.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical records in line with trust and professional guidelines.
  • Participate in ward rounds, MDT meetings, and discharge planning where appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration and eligibility for RCSLT membership
    .
  • RCSLT Dysphagia Competencies Level C (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in an acute hospital setting
    .
  • Confidence working independently with adult inpatient caseloads
    .
  • Strong communication, organisational, and team working skills.
