Adecco are delighted to be recruiting, on behalf of Wandsworth Council, for an experienced and proactive Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer to join the Council's Information Governance team.

Full‑time, Monday to Friday - Pay: £21.70 per hour (PAYE) / £28.29 per hour (Umbrella)
As an FOI Officer, you will support Wandsworth Council in delivering a high‑quality, transparent, and compliant information service. You will be responsible for managing Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests, ensuring responses are accurate, timely, and legally compliant. This role sits within the Better Service Partnership shared between Richmond and Wandsworth Councils, aimed at delivering efficient, innovative and customer‑focused services.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and respond to FOI and EIR requests within statutory deadlines, ensuring high‑quality and legally compliant responses.
- Act as the first point of contact for public queries related to information rights.
- Provide guidance, support and training to council staff on FOI/EIR processes and best practice.
- Work with internal departments to gather, review and prepare information for disclosure.
- Promote transparency, accountability and good information governance across the organisation.
- Ensure adherence to Data Protection legislation, Information Governance policies and Codes of Practice.
- Freedom of Information experience – confident handling FOI/EIR legislation and responding to public information requests.
- Local Government experience – understanding of public sector processes and expectations.
- Ability to manage a high volume of casework while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail and legal compliance.
You will be organised, analytical, and comfortable managing competing deadlines. You should bring excellent communication skills, strong judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments. A commitment to fairness, transparency, and high‑quality public service is essential.
