SEND Tribunal Officer
3‑month initial interim contract – view to extend beyond
London‑based Local Authority
£400 per day Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
Remote Working

Baltimore Consulting are exclusively partnered with a London Local Authority seeking an experienced SEND Tribunal Officer to support their SEND service on an interim basis.

With a rise in tribunal activity, the service requires someone who can step in confidently, manage complex tribunal casework from day one, and provide strong support across the tribunal function. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring statutory compliance, coordinating responses to appeals, and supporting the Local Authority in achieving fair, lawful and timely outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Your Role as SEND Tribunal Lead

Overseeing all appeals and associated casework.
Coordinate evidence gathering, prepare legal documentation, and ensure high‑quality written responses.
Represent the Local Authority at tribunal hearings with confidence and professionalism.
Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues on tribunal processes and SEND legislation.
Ensure full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory timelines.
Liaise sensitively with families, legal representatives, schools, and internal teams.
Support mediation processes and promote early resolution where possible.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing service improvement.

Your Experience as a SEND Tribunal Lead:

Strong understanding of SEND legislation, tribunal procedures, and statutory responsibilities.
Proven experience representing Local Authorities at SEND tribunal hearings.
Skilled in negotiation, conflict resolution, and advocacy.
Ability to manage complex, sensitive cases under pressure.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to consistent, lawful decision‑making.
