This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilst remaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions. Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions. Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements.
A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours. Division / Department – Specialist Crime. Grade – Surrey Police Grade H / Sussex Police Grade 11. Status – Full Time or Happy to Talk Flexible Working. Contract Type – Permanent. Salary Grade Range – Surrey Police £38,064 - £45,058 / Sussex Police £41,487 - £45,765.
Working Hours – 36.0 Hours per Week. Shift Allowance – No. Politically Restricted – No. Location – See Advert. The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

Key Responsibilities
From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe. In this role you will manage the design, development and evaluation of learning and briefing materials for Forensic Science Activities (undertaken by Surrey and Sussex Police) in line with both best practice and up-to-date regulatory guidance, in support of the Policing Education Qualifications Framework and ongoing staff CPD.
QualificationsSkills & Experience
- Educated to Degree Level or equivalent professional qualification.
- QCF Level 3 Certificate in Learning and Development or equivalent experience in delivering training products to adults (Level 3 broadly equates to A Level, BTEC extended diploma, BTEC National Certificate).
- Ability to develop degree level (level
6) learning and development materials to a high standard in line with the College of Policing National Curriculum. Knowledge of the Policing Education Qualifications Framework. - Evidence of the development of training materials and delivery within a learning environment.
- Strong, up to date working knowledge of forensic operational policing in order to be able to deliver accurate learning materials and develop effective operational guidance. Up to date experience working within a relevant accredited forensic environment, for example forensic identification services, DNA recovery, fingerprint enhancement.
- Experience of translating Forensic Science Regulator Code of Practice and Conduct, relevant ISO certification requirements and Standard Operating Procedures into learning materials or have the ability to quickly attain such knowledge.
- Excellent formal and interpersonal communication skills and ability to produce complex written material to a high standard.
- Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally, and negotiate and influence with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to problem solve both individually or in consultation with others to create and deliver strategic solutions.
- Highly motivated with the ability to be flexible and work to tight deadlines. Demonstrate personal resilience and the ability to work under pressure.
- Highly IT literate, including Microsoft Office products and adept at learning new systems. Experience of using Virtual Learning Environment systems.
