Adecco is recruiting for an experienced and motivated Temporary Accommodation Officer to support a busy Housing & Regeneration service within a local authority in South West London. This is a key frontline role providing safe, suitable temporary accommodation for households experiencing homelessness.

- Temporary Role - 3 months with possible extension
- Full Time - Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
- £20.76 per hour PAYE / £27.07 per hour Umbrella
- ASAP Start
* Please be aware that, owing to the operational demands of the role, this post is entirely on‑site with no option for home working.*
About the RoleIn this role, you will:
- Allocate and let temporary accommodation in line with statutory legislation and the Homelessness Code of Guidance.
- Manage placements effectively to ensure the best use of stock and reduce the need for Bed & Breakfast accommodation.
- Complete suitability assessments under homelessness legislation.
- Handle the full administrative process for offers, refusals, and duty discharges.
- Carry out regular property inspections, ensuring accommodation meets required standards (including HHSRS).
- Liaise with private landlords, agents, and accommodation providers to ensure quality and compliance.
- Prepare reports and written statements for legal queries, case reviews, and enquiries from stakeholders.
- Support vulnerable households, referring to appropriate statutory and voluntary services where needed.
- Manage leasing schemes, tenancy documents, and legal processes where relevant.
- Promote rehousing opportunities and mobility schemes to help reduce temporary accommodation placements.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience in homelessness, housing allocations, lettings, or temporary accommodation.
- Can confidently interpret and apply housing legislation (Housing Act 1996, HRA 2017, etc.).
- Is skilled at working with landlords, agents, and accommodation providers.
- Communicates clearly and professionally, both in writing and face‑to‑face.
- Can work independently, make informed decisions, and manage competing priorities.
- Is confident supporting vulnerable households and working in challenging situations.
- Can conduct property inspections and travel between sites as required.
- Is flexible and able to participate in duty rota working.
