This role is integral to the delivery of the planning function, providing excellent customer service, and supporting the Mayor's strategic ambitions for the Oxford Street area.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage your own caseload of planning applications and pre-application proposals, offering support for subsections of major planning applications as delegate by the Head of Planning Development.
Prepare written reports for decisions under both delegated authority and the Planning Committee.
Support the Head of Development Management and Enforcement and Principal Planning Officers on various planning applications, ensuring compliance with agreed performance targets.
Respond to public enquiries regarding the corporation's processes and timelines for planning application considerations.
Draft briefings, reports, and presentations for both internal and external audiences on behalf of the Head of Development Management and Enforcement.
Assist with enforcement cases, ensuring that they are managed according to agreed performance targets.
Contribute to the Planning Directorate's work on enforcement cases and the discharge of conditions, ensuring policy and legal advice is incorporated and proposals are approved at the appropriate level.
Support senior officers in preparing evidence for Examinations, Public Inquiries, informal hearings, and appeals, including those managed by written representations.
Job Requirements:
Experience in development management and planning within the Highways sector.
Strong understanding of planning policies and legal advice relating to development management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare comprehensive reports and presentations.
Ability to manage a varied caseload of planning applications and pre-application proposals effectively.
Experience in supporting enforcement cases and contributing to high-profile planning projects.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to respond to public inquiries professionally.
Proficiency in planning-related software and tools.
Relevant planning degree or equivalent qualification.
