Overview

Chief Constables' Message

We welcome your interest in joining our Police Force. It is a privilege to lead the teams in Surrey Police and Sussex Police who work selflessly to keep people in our counties safe. We are looking for talented and inspirational people who put the public’s needs at the heart of everything they do and want to make a difference. We wish you all the very best with your application.

Chief Constables Tim De Meyer & Jo Shiner

The Role And

Key Responsibilities

This is an exciting time to join Public Protection (PP) in Sussex as the service embraces Operation Soteria and transformational change in how we handle investigations of rape and serious sexual offending. The operating model is evolving and you may join an investigation team or work elsewhere within Public Protection. We are looking for people with a passion for safeguarding to complement our teams and help bring the service to the next level.

Public Protection is a broad command with functions relating to complex investigations, offender management and intelligence sharing. We pride ourselves on delivering on the Sussex Vision by protecting victims, catching offenders and delivering an outstanding service.

Our Bluestone and Iris Teams are a core section within the department. They pursue those who target and exploit the most vulnerable, bring them to justice, undertake specialist safeguarding, and work with partners to protect those at greatest risk. These teams are based in Brighton, Crawley, Eastbourne, Hastings and Littlehampton.

We’re looking to recruit accredited Detectives to join our Public Protection teams. We are keen to hear from officers with experience or interest in Public Protection; this also includes those who aren’t accredited but have investigative experience and would like to develop on the DC pathway.

We seek the highest quality candidates who demonstrate the values of Sussex Police: problem solving, curiosity, tenacity, emotional resilience and compassion. You will stay calm under adversity, critically analyse evidence, and help establish the facts used to obtain justice in court. There are clear opportunities for career progression through Future Focus processes, whether through lateral development or promotion.

Applications from underrepresented groups are especially welcome.
