Safety Engineer
As a Fire Safety Advisor at Imperial College London, you will play a pivotal role in promoting fire safety across our campuses and ensuring statutory compliance. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide expert advice, conduct and review fire risk assessments, and support the development of fire safety strategies for new builds, refurbishments, and events. You will also lead on emergency planning, fire safety audits, and bespoke training, helping to foster a strong fire safety culture across the College.
You will be responsible for planning, conducting, documenting, and reviewing fire risk assessments for University buildings. Your duties will include providing legislative, specialist, and technical fire safety advice, supporting senior managers, and ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation. You will also be involved in University projects, fire safety audits, inspections, and emergency plan development. Additionally, you will facilitate fire drills, investigate fire incidents, and provide fire safety training.
- A recognised Level 3 fire risk assessment qualification with at least 3 years’ experience, or NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate with 4 years’ operational experience (Essential).
- Extensive knowledge of UK fire safety legislation and standards, with proven ability to apply them in complex environments (Essential).
- Experience conducting fire risk assessments using PAS 79 and delivering fire safety training (Essential).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and influencing skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and develop practical solutions (Essential).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and cloud-based systems (Essential).
- Level 4 Diploma and registration with a recognised Fire Risk Assessor Register (Desirable).
