Are you an experienced policy or public affairs professional looking to apply your skills in a role with real impact on patient care and health outcomes? The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD), is looking for a Policy Manager to lead policy, public affairs and advocacy activity, working closely with clinicians and decision-makers across health and government.

The role

Reporting to the Director of Communications
, the Policy Manager will lead BAD’s day-to-day policy, public affairs and advocacy activity. The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, working closely with senior clinicians, Officers and internal teams to develop credible, evidence-led policy positions and deliver effective influencing campaigns.

Key areas of responsibility include:
  • Leading policy and public affairs delivery aligned to BAD’s strategic priorities
  • Horizon scanning for policy developments, consultations and legislative change
  • Developing policy positions, briefings and consultation responses
  • Designing and delivering policy campaigns and influencing activity
  • Building and managing relationships with key stakeholders across government, the NHS and the wider health sector
  • Translating clinical evidence and data into compelling policy and advocacy materials
  • Briefing senior leaders and spokespeople ahead of meetings, events and parliamentary or media activity
  • Providing senior support and cover within the communications function when required
About you

You’ll be an experienced policy, public affairs or advocacy professional, ideally with exposure to health policy or regulated environments. You’ll be confident working with evidence and senior stakeholders and comfortable balancing strategic priorities with delivery.

Experience with in health, charities, membership bodies or professional organisations will be particularly well received.
