About the RoleIn this role, you will provide high‑quality welfare support, information and advice to Council and Temporary Accommodation tenants, ensuring they claim appropriate welfare benefits. You will investigate and implement initiatives to maximise their income, minimise the impact of welfare reforms, and work with internal and external partners to identify options for tenants. You will support those transitioning to Universal Credit and work closely with colleagues to prevent rent arrears and improve rent collection.
You will work within the Housing Income Maximisation (HIMAX) team, alongside colleagues in the Income Management team, to provide a holistic package of support and interventions to tenants at risk of financial exclusion.
The role requires an outstanding and dynamic individual with experience working with local authorities and a proven track record of delivering quality support to vulnerable residents, especially in income maximisation and tenancy sustainment. You will be innovative in problem solving, adept at handling large caseloads, and able to engage well with customers in or at risk of going into debt.
Employment Conditions and BenefitsOur benefits package includes leave entitlement up to 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme, and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture.
