IGDN SO2/3 Project Team Lead Strategic and Governance – a joint opportunity for personnel from Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Marines.

Unit Function

IGDN commands, supports and assures the UK’s Permanent Joint Operating Bases (PJOBs) to deliver and enable operations, protect sovereignty and develop global hubs as strategic capabilities.

Position Role

Sector Lead:
Strategic & Governance Analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Strategic Overview chapter, synthesising key documents (SDR, NSS, Soft Power Strategy, etc.) to define Defence’s overseas footprint requirements.
  • Conduct Stakeholder Analysis, including interviews and mapping dependencies across Defence, HMG, and Allies.
  • Oversee the Governance & Relationships section, proposing models for Lead Command, governance architecture, and integration of 1*/2
    * structures.
  • Coordinate with cross‑government entities (FCDO, DBT) to identify opportunities for alignment and coherence.
  • Liaise with the Red Team to test assumptions and validate strategic findings.
  • Support the drafting of the final report, ensuring operational insights are clearly articulated.
Qualifications
  • Must be an OF2 or OF3 of any specialisation; applicants with a recommendation for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR will be considered.
  • Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

Additional Information
  • Hybrid working is encouraged with some travel to MOD Main Building and Northwood HQ required.
