DescriptionLancashire Insurance Group is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented actuarial analyst to support the Group Underwriting Performance and Planning Team in its London office. The successful candidate should have experience in the non-life (re) insurance sector.
This is a new role created within the Group Underwriting Performance and Planning Team to support business growth as well as the increasing need for actuarial involvement in wider initiatives across the Group. The successful candidate will work closely with underwriting, finance, actuarial and reinsurance functions to develop, enhance and maintain approaches, assumptions, models and reporting initially with a focus on the actuarial considerations around business planning and underwriting information required for capital modelling.
SpecificResponsibilities
Work with the Group Underwriting Performance and Planning team and the wider Actuarial function to develop systems and processes with a focus on underwriting year, GAAP and IFRS 17 bases including, but not limited to:
- Support the UPP actuarial, finance & underwriting managers in the production, oversight and distribution of internal models, MI and reporting
- Input into the development of Group planning models
- Assist in the development of actual vs expected MI and performance analytics
- Assist in data provision to the Group Actuarial function of planning model outputs
- Work closely with the wider Planning team to coordinate work, prioritise tasks and communicate change
- 2/3 years experience in an actuarial role. Study support available for candidates wishing to pursue actuarial exams but not essential for role.
- Excellent IT skills, in particular MS Office and Power BI and experience working with and validating large datasets.
- Strong analytical, technical and presentational skills to enable the results of Actuarial analyses to be communicated to a non-actuarial audience
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving skills and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as there will be a high level of communication required within the wider company.
