An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Financial Accountant to join a large national charity on a temporary basis. You will play a key role in supporting the finance team with the production of statutory accounts and managing a substantial fixed asset register. This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with senior finance colleagues and external auditors to ensure an efficient and accurate year-end process.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate capitalisation, depreciation, disposals, and compliance with UK GAAP and Charity SORP
- Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements, supporting audit requirements and ensuring compliance with charity accounting standards
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations, including control accounts, prepayments, accruals, deferred income, and restricted/unrestricted fund balances
- Monitor restricted funds and grant income, ensuring correct allocation, reporting, and compliance with donor/funder requirements
- Produce financial reports and analysis for senior management and trustees to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making
- Produce statutory accounts on Agresso Unit 4 Business World and liaise directly with external auditors
- Post year-end adjustments for expenses and income
- Prepare supporting schedules, documentation, and accurate explanations for audit queries
- Review draft accounts, including cash flow statements
- Prepare accounting adjustments as requested by auditors
- Support financial data cleansing activities in line with organisational data retention policies
- Undertake additional tasks as required to assist the wider finance function
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA)
- Experience using Agresso Unit 4 BW system
- Proven experience preparing statutory accounts for large, complex organisations
- Strong technical knowledge of FRS 102 and Charity SORP
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Professional, collaborative, and methodical approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement
Location: Central London
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days per week on site
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
Contract: 6-month initial contract, with potential extension
