15‑Month Fixed term contract

Central London (hybrid working model - 4 days in the office)

We’re looking for a hands‑on Financial Crime Specialist to join a small, friendly second line team in Central London on a 15‑month fixed term contract. You’ll be right in the mix on AML, sanctions, fraud and assurance work, helping keep the bank safe and compliant while learning a huge amount along the way. You will join a small team within a 150 people bank, part of a successful global banking group engaged in universal banking products.

THE ROLE

You’ll support the MLRO across day‑to‑day financial crime work, including:

Regulatory Change Implementation & Compliance Policy Updates
  • Monitor, interpret, and implement evolving AML/CFT, sanctions, and anti‑fraud regulations.
  • Update and enhance financial crime policies and procedures, ensuring they reflect the latest regulatory requirements and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain a structured process for tracking regulatory changes and integrating them into organisational policies.
  • Ensure that regulatory updates are properly documented, communicated, and implemented across all relevant teams.
  • Conduct impact assessments of new policies to evaluate their effects on operational teams and technology systems.
Monitoring and Assurance
  • Keeping on top of AML/CFT, sanctions and anti‑fraud regulatory changes and helping to update policies and procedures.
  • Supporting internal and external audits, from prep through to tracking and closing actions.
  • Screening clients and payments (including World Check and similar tools such as Safcheck), discounting false positives and escalating real issues.
  • Helping run monitoring and assurance testing and keeping key registers and trackers up to date (issues, remediation, RCSA, regulatory change, projects).
Routine Financial Crime Compliance Activities
  • Carrying out enhanced and standard due diligence checks on new and existing customers (corporates and financial institutions).
  • Assisting with investigations, fraud registers, adverse media checks and general team admin and reporting.
  • Helping to embed a strong risk culture across the first and second line through support with training
  • You’ll be in a small team where your work is visible and you can genuinely shape how things are done.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Graduate educated with around 1–2+ years’ experience in a financial crime related role within a bank.
  • Comfortable interpreting regulations and guidance and turning them into practical controls.
  • Strong attention to detail, able to juggle deadlines and handle periods of pressure.
  • Confident with Microsoft Office and typical banking systems; screening tool experience is a plus.
  • A team player who can also get on with things independently in a multicultural environment.
  • Very hands on environment - may suit someone who has experience of smaller bank where there is a smaller financial crime team
Salary, contract and working pattern
  • Salary: £42,000 plus benefits and discretionary bonus or £230 per day
  • Contract: 15‑month fixed term – you must be able to commit to the full period.
  • Location: Central London, hybrid working – 4 days a week in the office, 1 day from home.
  • Sponsorship: Not available – you must already have the right to work in the UK for at least 15 months without the need for sponsorship.
