Vice President - Portfolio Monitoring (Private Equity) - Contract / Interim
Location: London (Hybrid)
Contract: 6-12 months Day Rate: £550-£750 (via umbrella)
A leading Private Equity firm is seeking an experienced Vice President of Portfolio Monitoring to take ownership of its portfolio reporting, valuations oversight, and performance analytics engine. This is a high‑impact role suited to a technically strong, detail‑driven professional with deep private markets experience and a builder mindset. You will partner closely with investment teams, fund finance, and senior leadership to deliver decision‑grade insights and robust valuation governance.
Key Responsibilities Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting- Act as the primary liaison between portfolio companies, internal stakeholders, and the firm's portfolio intelligence platform.
- Lead the design, automation, and enhancement of portfolio reporting frameworks (including iLevel or similar tools).
- Translate complex financial and KPI data into intuitive dashboards for executive and operational audiences.
- Develop bespoke analytical tools, templates, and KPI frameworks to support consistent portfolio oversight.
- Produce recurring internal and external reporting, including:
- Quarterly investor updates
- Investment Committee materials
- ILPA portfolio company metrics
- Partner with Fund Accounting and Investor Relations to ensure data integrity, consistency, and timely communication.
- Review and challenge quarterly valuations in line with IPEV guidelines, internal policies, and industry best practice.
- Validate valuation inputs, including selection of public comps, transaction comps, and model assumptions.
- Prepare valuation committee memoranda, highlighting key movements, watch‑list assets, and areas requiring discussion.
- Lead pre‑committee briefings with the CFO and senior stakeholders.
- Manage third‑party valuation reviews, AIFM oversight, and year‑end audit processes.
- Apply DCF, DDM, and market‑based methodologies to assess valuation robustness and challenge deal team assumptions.
- Support portfolio‑level performance analysis across international funds.
- 7+ years’ experience in private markets, investment management, or transaction services.
- Minimum 3 years in a portfolio monitoring or valuations function within a Private Equity firm.
- Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) required; CFA highly advantageous.
- Strong technical valuation skills and familiarity with IPEV standards.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability; experience with iLevel or similar platforms preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with the ability to build processes from the ground up.
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment with multiple work streams.
