Background and position overview

Penta Capital is seeking an investment associate to add to its investment team. Penta is a well-established UK based private equity investment firm. At its core, Penta is a direct private equity firm that leads the sourcing, structuring and arranging of PE investment opportunities on behalf of its investors. Penta raise capital for these investments from a loyal network of investors including family offices, institutional investors, UHNWs and founding entrepreneurs.

In 2023, Penta established a co-investment strategy that complements the direct strategy by offering investors the opportunity to partner / co-invest alongside other PE firms in transactions these PE firms’ source and lead. This role will be focused on the co-investment strategy.

Key responsibilities
  • Investment sourcing: supporting with all sourcing efforts
  • Investment appraisal: review, assessment and summary of new co-investment opportunities
  • Internal approval process: drafting of investment papers and helping communicate investment opportunities to the broader team
  • Transaction execution: support with all areas of transaction execution, including; due diligence, deal structuring, investor presentations and fundraising, legal documentation etc.
  • Portfolio monitoring and reporting: monitor portfolio company financial and operational performance and supporting investor reporting requirements
Key requirements
  • Strong academic record and ideally relevant professional qualification (e.g. CA, CFA, MBA etc.)
  • Experience with in a PE / Investment Banking / Transaction Services role ranging from 1 - 5 years
  • Strong financial modelling skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Ability to demonstrate strong investment and commercial judgement
  • Strong written and oral communications skills with experience of preparing investment papers
  • Self-starter comfortable working in a small team and being flexible in approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills capable of building strong relationships with PE partners and investors
  • Demonstrable interest in financial markets and investing
Remuneration

Competitive and comprised a mix of base salary, performance-based bonus, carried interest participation and the ability to co-invest personally into investments
