We are seeking an experienced Head of Credit Risk Policy, Quality Assurance and Frameworks to join our 2nd Line of Defence Risk & Compliance function, reporting to the Chief Credit Officer.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for the oversight, development and continuous enhancement of the Credit Risk Management Framework. The role provides independent challenge across the lending portfolio while shaping credit risk strategy, policy governance and quality assurance activity.
The position offers significant executive visibility and the opportunity to influence regulatory engagement, capital planning and portfolio risk direction within a growing specialist bank.
Key Responsibilities- Own and enhance the Credit Risk Management Framework and supporting policies
- Oversee Credit Risk Quality Assurance activity within the Second Line
- Support ICAAP requirements and regulatory capital planning
- Ensure compliance with evolving regulatory expectations (including IFRS9 and capital methodologies)
- Support effective governance of Credit Committees
- Oversee and challenge credit risk reporting, portfolio analytics and risk appetite reviews
- Identify emerging credit risks and regulatory-driven impacts
- Strengthen cross-functional relationships across 1st and 2nd Line teams
- Significant senior experience in Credit Risk, including credit sanctioning, policy design and framework development
- Experience with in challenger and/or mainstream banking environments
- Strong understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, including IFRS9 and capital methodologies
- Knowledge of SME, property and specialist lending markets
- Experience in portfolio analytics and awareness of risk modelling concepts (PD/LGD)
- Industry qualifications such as ACIB or equivalent
