Our client is a global, private equity-backed hospitality business with a diverse international portfolio. They are seeking to appoint a Director of Tax in a newly created, first-in-role position to build and lead the tax function across multiple jurisdictions.
Reporting directly to the VP – Finance, this individual will take full ownership of the tax agenda, playing a key role in supporting growth, investment activity and governance within a dynamic, fast-evolving international environment.
The successful candidate will bring a minimum of four years’ Post-Qualified Experience (PQE), combining strong technical expertise with commercial judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach. This is a visible, strategic role requiring close collaboration with senior internal stakeholders and the private equity tax team to ensure robust compliance, effective structuring and proactive risk management.
Duties and Responsibilities Key Objectives- Lead and shape the tax function across the group, providing clear, strategic oversight and trusted advice on all tax-related matters.
- Ensure timely, accurate and compliant tax reporting across all operating jurisdictions.
- Support strategic transactions and ongoing investment activity through high-quality tax input and risk assessment.
- Establish and enhance governance, controls and processes aligned with the standards of a global multinational group.
- Oversee the end-to-end tax compliance process, including review of corporate tax returns and related filings.
- Manage external tax advisors across European and international jurisdictions.
- Review tax outputs for quarterly reporting at group level.
- Support investor-related reporting requirements, including US and Canadian tax matters where relevant.
- Lead tax due diligence on acquisitions, disposals and refinancing transactions.
- Provide structuring input to optimise tax efficiency while maintaining appropriate risk parameters.
- Review SPAs, financing documentation, financial models and related legal agreements from a tax perspective.
- Maintain ongoing tax oversight across the investment lifecycle.
- Deliver practical, commercially focused tax advice to Finance, Legal and senior leadership teams.
- Partner closely with the private equity tax function to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Monitor legislative developments across relevant jurisdictions and assess risk exposure.
- Support tax strategy development, planning initiatives and transfer pricing compliance.
- Contribute to forecasting and business planning processes from a tax perspective.
- Strengthen tax controls, documentation and governance frameworks.
- Drive efficiencies and continuous improvement as the business scales.
- Support broader finance and cross-functional initiatives as required.
- Operate as a trusted advisor, demonstrating sound judgement, integrity and accountability.
- Build strong relationships internally and externally to support the long-term objectives of the business.
This role is based in Hammersmith and requires on-site presence five days per week.
