Overall PurposeThe primary function of the role is to support the Head of Private Markets Advisory with all aspects of the development, structuring and execution of Private Markets Advisory transactions. The role will also involve assisting in the promotion and development of the Stonehage Fleming Private Markets Advisory business and in supporting the strong culture of the firm.
Main Duties- Assisting with the execution of corporate finance or direct investments advisory mandates in a range of sectors as directed by the Head of Private Markets Advisory and other members of the team, as appropriate
- Undertaking, inter alia, detailed transaction research, company investment analysis, complex financial modelling, and company valuations
- Drafting reports and presentations
- Attending client meetings with more senior members of the team
- Assisting with the monitoring of portfolio companies and ongoing reporting of portfolio company performance to investors
- Learning to develop client relationships
- Assisting with the origination of new corporate finance and direct investment opportunities
- Develop understanding of, and adherence to, the robust operating procedures of the business as written
- Providing enhancements and changes to the procedures as and when identified.
- Strict adherence to regulatory and compliance protocols
- Under the SM&CR this role is classified as Conduct Staff
- 3-4 years’ relevant corporate finance or private equity experience; or ACA qualified individual with relevant post-qualified experience
- Corporate finance and/or direct investments transaction execution skills acquired through experience of executing corporate finance or private equity transactions and relevant training
- An understanding of the private client wealth management business
- Excel skills to macro level
- Self-motivated to achieve goals to improve own and company performance
- Proactive, entrepreneurial, and commercially focused
- Strong business writing capabilities, including in relation to investment marketing materials (Word and PowerPoint)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with senior level executives, business owners, family offices and entrepreneurs
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to produce technical and detailed information ensuring recipients understand the information provided
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Willingness to take on responsibility and ownership of projects
- Flexibility in working hours
- Honesty and integrity
