VAT Assistant Manager

Join an international advisory and accounting firm with a major US presence (23 offices, Top 50 US CPA) and a strong UK practice. The London office offers a modern, friendly, small-office environment with global firm connectivity. The UK practice works extensively with high-profile clients across music, entertainment, sports, UHNW/HNW, and international niches, receiving a significant volume of internal and international referrals and is growing quickly.

This is a predominantly VAT advisory role (approx. 90% consulting), with limited compliance for clients receiving consulting support. Work covers a broad range of sectors.

As VAT Assistant Manager, you will work directly with the VAT Partner and be responsible for:

• Delivering VAT consulting and limited compliance work to support the VAT Partner and wider firm
• Attending client and prospect meetings; dealing with follow-up advisory work
• Conducting VAT reviews for audit, accounts and tax clients and drafting short reports using existing templated formats
• Identifying VAT risks, opportunities, and advisory touch points
• Supporting internal teams (audit, accounts, tax) on VAT matters

Clients span a wide range of VAT-relevant areas, including:

• International Trade
• Land, Property & Construction
• Events Organisations
• Media, Entertainment & Sport
• Professional Practices (Accountancy, Legal, Tax Investigations)

• Shadow the VAT Partner on initial VAT audit reviews (typically the first six), then take responsibility for delivering them independently
• Attend a wide range of client meetings and prepare advisory product
• Manage and grow a mixed advisory/compliance portfolio
• Experience high-value, complex and interesting cases across multiple sectors

• High volume of referral-driven advisory work
