BDO Regulatory Solutions are currently recruiting for a Financial Controls and Compliance Specialist to join our client, based in London.
We are offering an initial 9–12 month contract starting ASAP with an excellent day rate, employed via an Umbrella company.
About the role:
The Financial Controls and Compliance Specialist will be positioned to the client, supporting global and local compliance requirements for internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).
Key responsibilities include:
Work with Businesses/Function Leads, the client’s global compliance function and control owners in implementing financial reporting control standards
Deliver training to Businesses/Function stakeholders on financial reporting control standards
Support deployment of controls as required by Group Financial Risk and Compliance teams, ensuring controls adhere to Group requirements
Using your knowledge of financial controls, proactively identify the impacts of changes in business processes on financial compliance, working with both local and global stakeholders
Identify opportunities for continual improvement and optimisation
Support control operators to manage and maintain RACMs, enabling robust change management
Support management and finance teams to undertake control self‑assessments
Plan and deliver risk‑based control reviews in line with Group Financial Risk and Compliance standards
Evaluate and respond to control testing results, working with relevant stakeholders to create remediation plans, compensating controls and mitigating controls as needed
Track remediation actions to ensure effective and timely responses to control review outcomes
Plan and deliver periodic attestation over key controls, in consultation with Business/Function management and in line with the client’s Group Financial Risk and Compliance standards
Manage local risk relating to Fraud and Segregation of Duties (working in consultation with the global IT function)
Support relationships with internal and external audit teams, including supporting management responses, and alignment with key internal stakeholders and third‑party service providers
Prior management role within a Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) environment – e.g., within a SOX registrant, or as Audit/Advisory professional to SOX registrants
Specialist knowledge in interpretation and application of SOX standards
Strong awareness of ICFR and SOX control frameworks and related audit standards
Strong analytical, project and product management skills, including the ability to interpret business needs
Translate methodology into pragmatic and value‑enhancing project outcomes
Deliver presentations and materials targeted at the appropriate level to engage senior management
