Location: Greater London

London City - 3 days per week in the office

JSS are partnered with a global specialty insurer where they are seeking an External Reporting Manager to join the Finance team and deliver high‑quality financial information across our UK and international businesses. You will oversee group consolidation processes, statutory reporting, and key financial submissions across multiple jurisdictions. You will collaborate closely with FP&A, Controllership, Tax, and external auditors to ensure accurate, timely and compliant reporting under both US GAAP and UK GAAP.

This is a fantastic opportunity to influence accounting policy, enhance reporting standards, and support the financial governance of a growing insurance group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the monthly consolidation process, ensuring accurate and complete financial data from all reporting entities.
  • Prepare standard consolidation reports, variance analysis, and comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Partner with the FP&A team to prepare financial information for the quarterly CFO report, including individual Legal Entity financial results.
  • Support the completion of statutory accounts for overseas entities, ensuring compliance with local regulations and accounting standards.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely completion of all UK statutory audits.
  • Review quarterly results for all UK entities and work with Controllership to ensure US GAAP and UK GAAP journals and adjustments are complete and accurate.
  • Ensure financial results reflect consistent application of accounting standards and group policy.
  • Support the development, documentation, and maintenance of group accounting policies across US GAAP, UK GAAP, and relevant insurance standards.
  • Provide technical accounting advice and guidance to finance teams across the business.
  • Monitor evolving accounting regulations and support implementation of new requirements.
Personal Profile
  • Qualified accountant, (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), audit background desirable.
  • Experience in insurance or another highly regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in US GAAP and UK GAAP (IFRS experience beneficial).
  • Demonstrated experience in group consolidation, statutory reporting, and audit coordination.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Experience in developing accounting policy frameworks across technical accounting standards (UK GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS).
