Job SummaryThe Conoco Phillips Europe Commercial Office is based in Angel Court in the heart of the City of London. The team is actively involved in the marketing and trading of crude oil, NGLs, natural gas, and LNG.
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Crude Oil & NGL Operator to join our London-based team on a permanent basis. Reporting directly to the Operations Lead, this role will work closely with the Trading group to manage the logistics of upstream equity Crude Oil and NGL cargoes.
This position offers the opportunity to develop expertise in global energy logistics and gain exposure to a dynamic trading environment. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and compliant operations while contributing to the success of our marketing and trading strategies.
Your responsibilities may include:- Coordinating with counter parties, traders, terminals, vessels, shipping agents, customs, and inspection companies to ensure efficient physical movement of Crude Oil and NGLs
- Working with internal commercial groups (Contracts, Treasury, Compliance, Finance, Legal, Demurrage, Loss Control, Tax, IT, Marine & Vetting) to manage equity logistics
- Building and maintaining strong counter party relationships
- Submitting timely cargo nominations and ensuring accurate deal recording in systems of record
- Reviewing contracts related to equity sales prior to issue
- Tracking cargo date/quantity changes and communicating updates to traders for risk management
- Clearing vessels with internal vetting and coordinating documentary instructions and inspection nominations
- Reviewing Letters of Credit and ensuring compliance before title transfer
- Monitoring charges such as inspection, deadfreight, or demurrage
- Managing Bills of Lading and ensuring timely delivery for payment
- Providing cover for the BFOET hotline and monitoring passes
- Advising upstream groups on commercial operations and assisting with operational data requests
- Maintaining compliance awareness through regular training
Required:
- Legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom
- 3 or more years of commercial experience in operations
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Economics, Finance, other related field, or foreign equivalent
- Ability to prioritize multiple work streams and meet time‑critical deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent networking and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in managing operational documentation and email communication
- Ability to identify potential issues and propose risk mitigation strategies
- Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by courageously dealing with important problems, holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
- Builds strong relationships based on trust and seeks opportunities to collaborate across the matrix/organizational boundaries to achieve business goals
