Head of Direct Lending

DRAX Altus is supporting a highly regarded private markets investor in the appointment of a Head of Direct Lending to build and lead a new private credit platform. The firm has an established multi-fund track record in private markets and is recognised for disciplined investing, strong governance, and consistent performance. With significant capital under management and a deep network, the business is now launching a dedicated direct lending strategy.

This is a rare opportunity to scale a platform from inception.

The role includes but is not limited to:

• Define portfolio construction parameters across senior secured, unitranche, and mezzanine structures.
• Establish institutional-grade credit processes, governance frameworks, and risk discipline.
• Originate, structure, and execute direct lending transactions
• Set underwriting standards and portfolio monitoring frameworks appropriate for institutional capital.
• Lead restructuring, downside protection, and workout processes where necessary.
• Act as the external face of the strategy to LPs.
• Partner closely with the firm’s fundraising and investor relations teams to deliver a successful capital raise.
• Build credibility and long-term relationships with global capital providers.
• Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing credit investment team.
• Embed a values-driven, disciplined investment culture aligned with the broader platform.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Experience:
  
  Significant experience in direct lending, private credit, special situations, or structured finance
• Leadership:
  Proven ability to build and scale an investment strategy and team.
• Origination Capability:
  Strong track record of sourcing and executing credit transactions with full risk ownership.
• Fundraising Credibility:
  Established relationships with institutional LPs and experience representing a strategy in market.
• Strategic Vision:
  Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify platform adjacency and long-term growth opportunities.
