We're working with a major global financial institution to recruit an experienced professional into their EMEA Capital Management team within the Portfolio Strategy Group. This is a high‑impact maternity cover role running until December 2026 and offers the opportunity to shape how the bank manages its balance sheet, allocates financial resources and drives regional profitability.

Sitting in a strategic, commercially focused team, you'll play a key role in optimising the bank's regulatory capital footprint and improving overall ROE across the EMEA portfolio. The team acts as an internal advisor to senior management, evaluating business opportunities at sector, product and client level and helping the bank determine where to grow, how to allocate resources and how to maximise risk‑adjusted returns.

This position involves a blend of analytical modelling, capital optimisation, financial resource planning and strategic assessment. You will contribute to product and deal reviews, assess client profitability, and provide insight into market trends, capital consumption and regulatory developments. A core part of the role will be partnering with Product, Coverage and Finance teams across EMEA, as well as colleagues globally, to support new product development, enhance value propositions and ensure decisions are informed by robust capital, RWA and performance analysis.

You'll also help build and enhance frameworks that provide EMEA‑wide portfolio data and intelligence, supporting senior leadership with better visibility and improved decision‑making around asset allocation. A strong grasp of Basel regulations, IFRS9, capital methodologies and the end‑to‑end booking and RWA allocation process is essential, as you'll work to ensure capital treatments and controls remain consistent and compliant across the business.

You will be responsible for:

Leading key initiatives related to regulatory capital modelling, optimisation and capital efficiency across EMEA
Identifying ways to optimise RWA, credit cost and capital usage across the regional portfolio
Supporting product teams on new product design, value enhancement and regulatory impact analysis
Supporting marketing teams with deal structuring, pricing, profitability assessment and external benchmarking
Ensuring alignment across Economic Capital, Regulatory Capital, Stress Testing, IFRS9 and RWA frameworks
Enhancing governance, updating product/procedure manuals and acting as SME for capital treatment
Maintaining strong data quality and reviewing end‑to‑end systems from loan booking to capital allocation
Keeping the business aligned with the latest regulatory developments and global capital management standards

Ideal candidates will bring:

Strong experience in regulatory capital, RWA, ROE analysis, portfolio modelling and capital optimisation
A solid understanding of balance sheet and income statement dynamics
Basel and IFRS9 experience and familiarity with evolving regulatory requirements
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to work hands‑on and deliver accurate, detailed financial calculations
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence influencing senior leaders
Experience supporting strategic initiatives in fast‑paced, cross‑functional environments
A proactive, collaborative and solutions‑focused mindset
