- London: flexible Hybrid (3 days p/wk WFH)
Pear Talent is representing an international Financial Services business who have an excellent opportunity for a Financial Accountant at an exciting time as the function looks to implement technology led improvements. Reporting to the Finance Operations Manager, you’ll play a key role in a team (x5) that own the general ledger and key financial operations processes including finance system interfaces and finance operations (expenses, AP, treasury) ensuring accuracy, timely delivery against month end and reporting period close timetables, whilst championing continuous improvement and implementing target state technology solutions.
You’ll be expected to partner across the business with other teams and stakeholders.
- Financial accounting: Support month/year-end close which includes ensuring accuracy of accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and other financial accounting journals. Own key financial accounting inputs; fixed asset maintenance, prepayments, accruals, lease accounting, inter-company postings and intangible assets.
- Technical accounting: Support the financial reporting team with quarterly IFRS processes and group reporting.
- Process improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve existing processes.
- Explore and implement technology solutions (incl. Excel automation, Power BI or MIBI equivalents), and scripting tools such as Python.
- Lead or contribute to defining ‘target state’ processes and develop implementation plans to track progress through to delivery.
- Act as a catalyst for continuous improvement and control enhancements for processes and workflows across the team.
- Finance operations: Maintain monthly bank, balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, investigating differences. Review and approve invoice coding, supplier payment runs, employee expenses etc.
- Expenses: Provide a qualitative review of expenses. Manage queries from suppliers, employees, and internal stakeholders including FP&A queries on expenses.
- Controls: Ensure robust controls and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- Team: mentor junior team members
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Solid experience in financial accounting or financial control roles
- Ideally you will have experience in Financial Services, but this is not essential.
- Hands‑on experience with journal posting, reconciliations, and core financial accounting processes.
- Financial operations experiences (invoice coding, supplier payments, expenses, payments)
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, show initiative, challenge existing processes, and drive meaningful change.
