My client is seeking a Part-Qualified or Newly Qualified Financial Reporting Assistant Accountant to support the Financial Reporting team across a range of activities. The role will assist with the monthly ledger close, preparation of monthly US GAAP group reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, production of annual UK GAAP financial statements, and other ad hoc finance tasks. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and maintenance of robust processes across all financial ledgers and reporting activities.
Dutiesand Accountabilities
- Prepare monthly journals as part of the financial close process
- Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, prepayments, accruals, and intercompany balances
- Support the development of the Faster Claims Payment system and related reconciliations
- Assist with the annual broker review process, as well as regular cover holder and DCA reviews
- Support the preparation of quarterly VAT returns
- Prepare monthly lead schedules
- Assist with the production of year-end statutory accounts
- Support the preparation and ongoing maintenance of accounting policies and procedures documentation
- Maintain effective communication with external advisors (e.g. tax advisors, auditors, and investment providers)
- Prepare audit information and liaise with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process and strong working relationships
- Participate in finance projects as required
- Undertake other finance tasks as necessary
The successful candidate will have:
- Part-qualified (over 50%), finalist, or newly qualified accounting status
- Knowledge of insurance accounting and/or Lloyd’s of London experience (desirable)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Knowledge of the Workday accounting system (desirable)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships
