Finance Officer | 9723 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £39,862 to £41,771 per annum (Scale J) | County Hall, Norwich
We are looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join the Budgeting and Accounting Team here at Norfolk County Council and play a key role in helping to deliver a first class budgeting and accounting service across the organisation. Our Budgeting and Accounting Team are a critical part of our organisation, providing support across the breadth of our services to ensure that we re accountable as a council, and that taxpayers are receiving the best possible value for money.
Working in a large and complex environment currently going through a significant period of transformational change, you ll be part of a talented, proactive team that makes a real difference and is able to support the continual evolution and long term objectives of the council. The core focus of the role is to work closely with our services to support day to day budgeting and accounting requirements, as well as working on a range of transformational change projects.
As a local authority, we are accountable to our tax payers and it s critical that we are able to maintain a high standard of professional accounting, and that our finances and budgets are transparent and accurate. You will be an experienced part-qualified accountant with excellent communication skills, able to demonstrate sound financial judgement, able to plan and prioritise effectively, and be able to build constructive working relationships with both financial and non-financial individuals at all levels.
You will be expected to provide assistance in developing and maintaining financial systems, work in accordance with accounting standards, and support and challenge Budget Managers as they manage their services and provide outturn forecasts. You will also be required to provide trend analysis of financial and non-financial information, close the accounts within a given specialism, and manage and support Senior Finance Assistants within the team.
