Hours:

Monday – Friday, 9am – 5.30pm (Hybrid working, 2 days in on-site, 3 days from home)

ROLE PURPOSE

The Financial Controller is pivotal to the financial vitality of our organisation, overseeing all aspects of finance operations and finance compliance. In this strategic leadership role, you will collaborate closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to shape and execute financial strategies that drive organisational success. Your expertise will ensure not only the financial health of the business but also the delivery of a profitable and exceptional visitor experience, aligning financial objectives with the overall goals of the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the attraction’s growth and sustainability and provide strategic input on business initiatives.
  • Oversee all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and analysis.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end financial procedures, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and prepare relevant reports and accounts in the absence of the Finance Manager.
  • Manage cash flow and investment strategies to optimise the organisation's financial position.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial analysis and insights to support decision-making.
  • Evaluate and manage financial risks, implementing effective risk management practices.
  • Lead on the preparation of financial statements and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with all regulatory requirements, and implementation of robust financial controls.
  • Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and other financial institutions.
  • Lead on external audits, liaising with auditors to ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting.
  • Provide strategic oversight of software and systems, ensuring the implementation and maintenance of resilient, secure, and efficient infrastructure that mitigates risks to financial data and business continuity.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead the finance team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
  • Support with developing and executing successful sales strategies to increase visitor numbers and revenue.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • A degree in finance, accounting or a related field, as well as a professional accountancy certification is essential.
  • Proven experience in financial management, with a strong track record in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial reporting standards, regulatory compliance, and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies that support organisational growth and sustainability.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Passionate about delivering an outstanding visitor experience and driving continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in guiding, training, and managing a finance team.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with the Board of Directors and Heads of Department to align and integrate activities.
  • Proven ability to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to analyse market trends and data to identify growth opportunities.
