Fund Accounting Manager - Leading Mid Market PE Fund

Autumnal Partners is exclusively partnered with one of the UK’s best-known and most successful private equity funds in their search for a Fund Accounting Manager. The role title is slightly misleading, in most funds this would be labelled Head of Fund Finance. This is the most senior fund finance leadership role beneath Partner level, with full accountability for fund operations, reporting, compliance and infrastructure across the platform.

This is a senior, high-impact role within a market-leading private equity platform that has recently closed a significantly oversubscribed flagship fund and continues to scale its operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior finance leadership team and play a central role in strengthening fund finance infrastructure, controls and reporting.

Mandate:

• End-to-end ownership of fund finance across flagship, growth and co-investment vehicles
• Leadership of external service providers and internal fund finance team
• Oversight of audits, tax, regulatory reporting and fund facilities
• Partnering with the investment team on transactions, valuations and fund structuring
• Continuous improvement of controls, systems and automation
• Leadership through fund launches, scale and operational complexity

The finance team is close knit and you would you be managing two experienced fund controllers. The key element that the client is trying to unlock is to identify someone who can operate as a first review buffer, project leader and completor into areas such as fund finance and also third party administrator selection.

In the longer term this role is seen as a gateway to building a credible succession planning for the CFO.

We are searching for candidates with proven private equity fund accounting, I think for interesting options we could look at for instance infra and PD as alternatives. You will likely be chartered (c5-10 years PQE) and have an "audit" mindset in respect to structure and organisational thinking.

Communication skills are absolutely critical, the founding partners are day to day active in the business and you will be part of meetings which will require a balance of intellectual confidence but also sensitivity to response and outcome.

Carry has traditionally been provided to all members of the finance team, you would of course have to build some reasonable track record with the firm but high performers can expect future carry on the funds.
