Financial Manager
My client is a leading events caterer with a strong reputation for delivering exceptional food and live event experiences across a wide range of venues.
As the business continues to scale, they are looking to appoint an in-house Management Accountant as their first dedicated finance hire. This is a pivotal role offering real ownership and influence, reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with the senior leadership team.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys combining day-to-day delivery with commercial insight. You will take responsibility for building structure, improving reporting and embedding robust financial processes to support a fast-paced, operationally complex events business.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning
- Monitor profitability, margins and cost control across events, venues and catering streams
- Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Ensure statutory compliance including VAT returns, year-end accounts and liaison with external accountants
- Own and develop the in-house finance function, embedding strong controls and processes
- Manage the purchase order process and approval workflows
- Act as the senior point of contact for finance queries across the business
- Oversee freelancer approvals, timesheets and payment processes
- Maintain robust expense and company card controls with clear accountability
- Manage weekly and monthly payroll processes
- Oversee credit control, actively managing debtor balances and supporting strong cash collection
About You
- Proven experience as a Management Accountant or Finance Manager
- Strong operational finance background with hands-on systems and process ownership
- Comfortable working closely with senior leaders and constructively challenging where required
- Experience managing relationships with external accountants and third-party providers
- Highly organised, commercially minded and solutions-focused
- Calm, credible and detail-driven with a proactive approach
- Studying towards or qualified in ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
- Experience with in catering, hospitality or events is advantageous
