Financial Controller – Payments / Fin Tech

Our client is hiring a hands-on Financial Controller to own and strengthen the finance function within a profitable, fast-growing payments business. This is a broad role with genuine runway
-the right person can grow into a future CFO as the company continues to scale.

The business is a technology-led payments platform operating across two entities (a software platform plus a network of regulated entities). You’ll join a close-knit, founder-led team with a collaborative, sleeves-rolled-up culture and approachable leadership.

This position blends financial control + commercial finance
. You’ll keep the core finance engine running smoothly, while also using financial and transactional data to help optimise revenue, partnerships and performance.

You’ll take ownership of:

• Day-to-day finance operations, month-end support and reconciliations
• Maintaining tidy, scalable financial processes (without building a big finance department)
• Oversight of commissions and revenue share arrangements with strategic partners
• Managing and coordinating an offshore finance support team (India-based) handling finance legwork, analysis and commission processing
• Supporting leadership with financial insight and decision-making as the business grows
• Using rich transaction-level data to drive margin, revenue optimisation and performance reporting

• Proven experience in a Financial Controller / Finance Manager type role, ideally in payments, fintech, SaaS, or regulated environments
• Strong fundamentals: reconciliations, controls, reporting, oversight of outsourced support
• Confidence managing commissions / revenue share models (or similar complex commercial structures)
• Commercial mindset — able to go beyond accounting and influence decision-making with data
• Comfortable in a smaller, scaling environment:
  hands-on, pragmatic, collaborative
• Ambition and capability to grow into a broader leadership role over time (future CFO trajectory)
