Overview
We are looking for a Mixed Tax Assistant Manager to join our team. This role involves assisting in delivering tax services to a diverse portfolio of clients, preparing complex personal tax returns, and undertaking tax planning and compliance tasks. The ideal candidate will be professionally qualified and have substantial experience in tax disciplines, ready to take on challenging assignments and lead a team.
Day-to-dayof the role
- Assist in technical support and research to deliver tax services, liaising with the relevant Partner.
- Prepare complex personal tax returns and oversee the tax computations and returns for more advanced jobs.
- Delegate work effectively to assistants and trainees, review their work, and provide constructive feedback.
- Engage in tax planning, projects, compliance matters, and handle client queries while preparing correspondence to clients and liaising with Partners.
- Apply technical knowledge in understanding the principles of residency, ordinary residency, domicile, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and the taxation of death estates and trusts.
- Deal with tax issues affecting company owners, including cash extraction, business assets disposal relief, and company restructuring.
- Collaborate with the team to share knowledge and ideas, coaching and developing others to build their tax knowledge.
- Engage positively with the business and uphold the firm’s values.
- Take responsibility for personal and professional development to progress learning and career progression.
- Act with honesty, fairness, and integrity in all dealings, maintaining client confidentiality.
- ATT and CTA qualified (or part CTA qualified).
- 5-7 years of experience within a relevant tax discipline.
- Strong technical and compliance knowledge, with the ability to develop an area of expertise.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to build relationships with peers internally and externally.
- Understanding of other client-facing service areas: audit, theatre division, business services, payroll.
- Strong client handling and relationship skills.
- Innovative thinker with strong business acumen and networking skills.
- Marketing and business development skills.
- Demonstrated effective management and leadership style.
