The business is firmly established with offices in London, the US, Europe and Asia and the role offers the opportunity to support the growth of the Biofuels and Physical Oil trading desks, as well as supporting the wider business covering Gas, Power and other commodity products.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong work ethic, be able to cope with a busy, fast-paced environment and be able to communicate effectively across all levels including senior management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Handle physical biofuels/oil cargo settlements, including ancillary costs.
- Verify all invoices and cargo documentation meets LC and contractual requirements; highlight discrepancies prior to finalisation.
- Responding to trade queries and requests from Front Office, Risk, and other departments.
- Liaise with treasury on upcoming payments.
- Monitor outstanding payments on AR/AP reports, providing feedback to Credit / FO where necessary.
- Ensure all exchange-traded deals are reconciled daily, both on a net position basis and previous day’s trades across clearers.
- Verify all inbound broker confirmations against company records (T+1).
- Establish strong relationships with counter parties and brokers to resolve confirmation issues.
- Investigate and escalate mismatches promptly.
- Manage daily & monthly settlement cycles – generation of CPTY invoices, checking and approving of incoming invoices and payment of ad hoc grid, hub or other trading related fees
- Reconcile monthly brokerage settlements.
- Support internal system testing (e.g., EIPP Web, EB, Ops Mgr) and provide feedback to IT/Bas
- Analyse & develop team procedures in line with market requirements.
- Assist with ad hoc audit requests where necessary.
SKILLS:
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent).
- Work based experience in Biofuels/Oil Cargo settlements/operations preferred.
- Good numerical & system skills.
- Strong organizational ability, with a keenness to learn.
- Team player who builds positive working relationships.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
