Our client is a forward‑thinking accountancy firm, recognised for delivering high‑quality tax advisory, consulting and audit services to privately owned businesses and individuals. They work closely with a diverse client base, helping them navigate complex compliance, financial management and tax challenges, and pride themselves on building long‑term, trusted relationships through expertise and a client‑focused approach.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Tax Investigations Assistant to join their specialist Tax Investigations and Dispute Resolution team
. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with UK tax experience and a genuine interest in investigations and disputes to develop their career in a niche, fast‑paced and highly technical area of tax.

The team advises on a wide range of HMRC matters, including enquiries, investigations, voluntary disclosures and dispute resolution across all major taxes. You will work closely with senior team members, gaining hands‑on exposure to real cases and increasing responsibility over time.

Your role will include:

• Supporting HMRC enquiries, investigations and disclosures from commencement through to resolution
• Preparing correspondence for HMRC and clients under supervision
• Producing spreadsheets, tax calculations and settlement schedules
• Tracking case progress and ensuring deadlines are met
• Reviewing and analysing client records and financial information
• Assisting with voluntary disclosures and negotiations
• Maintaining accurate case files and internal systems
• Liaising professionally with clients, HMRC and internal teams
• Attending meetings with clients and HMRC (initially to observe and take notes, progressing to active involvement)
• Researching UK tax legislation and HMRC guidance
• Supporting the wider Tax team with ad‑hoc queries and project work

They are ideally looking for someone with UK tax experience
, particularly with exposure to investigations, compliance or dispute work, who is keen to specialise further.

You will have:

• Experience working in UK tax across at least two full tax cycles (corporate, personal or mixed)
• Previous experience in tax investigations, compliance or dispute resolution (highly desirable)

• Exposure to complex, interesting and high‑value HMRC investigations
