The Opportunity
We are partnering with a fast-growing, London-based premium convenience retail business to appoint a high-calibre Finance Manager. Founded in 2020, the company operates in a dynamic, high-growth environment and is redefining how customers access everyday essentials through technology-led fulfilment and strong brand partnerships.
This is a pivotal role within the finance function, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to take real ownership, influence decision-making, and play a meaningful part in shaping the business’s financial strategy as it continues to scale.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Director of Strategic Finance & Financial Control, the Finance Manager will oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensure robust financial controls, and deliver high-quality reporting and insight to senior stakeholders. The role will lead the finance team’s operational activity, including direct responsibility for the Accounts Payable function, and will act as a key business partner across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness
* Producing insightful variance analysis, clearly explaining performance against prior periods, budgets, and forecasts
* Managing overseas entities and the group consolidation process, delivering monthly consolidated financial statements for investor reporting
* Providing commercial and financial analysis to support strategic decisions, cost optimisation, and margin improvement
* Owning statutory processes, including the annual audit, tax filings, and VAT returns, ensuring all deadlines are met
* Designing, implementing, and monitoring financial controls, policies, and procedures to support a growing business
* Managing, mentoring, and developing the finance team, embedding a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
* Supporting strategic planning, investment decisions, and growth initiatives with robust financial insight and risk assessment
* Driving system and process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and reporting quality
Candidate Profile
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience
* Strong technical grounding in UK GAAP and IFRS, with a solid understanding of UK tax requirements
* Proven experience in a similar finance leadership role, ideally within retail, e-commerce, or technology-driven businesses
* Experience in start-up or scale-up environments highly advantageous
* Demonstrated ability to lead teams and improve complex, data-led financial processes
* Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Confident communicator, able to translate financial information for non-financial stakeholders
* Experience with modern finance systems (Xero experience beneficial)
* High attention to detail, integrity, and resilience in a fast-paced environment
This role offers the chance to step into a business at an exciting stage of its journey, where finance plays a central role in supporting growth, performance, and long-term success.
