The Finance Manager is responsible for delivering robust, efficient finance operations that ensure accurate financial records, strong financial controls, and meaningful insights to support organisational performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Operations & Controls
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accurate reconciliations, cost control, and timely reporting
- Manage overheads, project recharges, client and supplier PO reconciliations
- Lead finance support for capital projects, tenders, and project quotations
- Monitor project revenues, expenditure, and financial performance
- Review and submit VAT returns and manage HMRC payments
- Maintain strong banking, credit card, and expense management processes
- Strategic & Business Support
- Support the Finance Director with financial analysis, reporting, and decision-making
- Contribute to delivery of financial objectives, including net profit targets
- Review and improve finance policies, systems, and processes
- Provide accurate ESG and carbon footprint reporting
- Leadership & Team Development
- Develop and motivate a high-performing finance team
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and clear direction
- Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Lead by example, demonstrating ROI values
- Systems & Data
- Maintain accurate, reliable finance data using Sage and related systems
- Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiency
