The Principal I is a member of the CFMD team responsible for all aspects of the development of financial and capital markets role strategically coordinates with CFMD pillars and key bank departments to design and support capital market transactions, drive product innovation, and lead policy dialogue initiatives that enhance financial sector development in EBRD operating countries.
Responsibilities- Guide Banking and Treasury departments toward development opportunities aligned with country‑level market priorities.
- Support product innovation by helping design specific financial institution transactions and banking transactions with capital market relevance.
- Provide input into the design and appraisal of financial institution and other sector projects with policy components, working with the Impact pillar to enhance the TI ambition.
- Liaise with Treasury to strengthen synergies between CFMD activities and EBRD treasury operations.
- Design, manage and coordinate transaction design (TC) projects with internal and external counterparts to support reforms or specific transactions in the financial sector or capital markets.
- Monitor the performance of TC projects and work with the Impact pillar to ensure adequate ambition.
- Design, manage and lead policy dialogue with relevant stakeholders to promote capital market development, build consensus within the bank, and establish buy‑in from key external stakeholders.
- Prepare analytical reports and policy notes that assess capital market development issues and reflect the team’s expertise.
- Postgraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting or related fields.
- Hands‑on experience with a wide range of capital market products, including debt, equity and derivatives.
- Experience in local‑currency and capital market product design, including funding, hedging and derivative market development.
- Experience in a stock exchange or similar capital market infrastructure provider is a plus.
- Proven project management experience related to financial sector development in transition economies.
- Strong communication skills in English and preferably one or more EBRD operating country languages.
- Ability to build relationships and influence high‑level internal and external stakeholders.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks concurrently and deliver quality outputs under tight deadlines.
