Role Objective

The Financial Director will be a senior member of the finance leadership team, responsible for leading all accounting and tax functions, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, and acting as a strategic partner to the CFO and executive team. This role will design, build, and lead the accounting and tax operations to support rapid growth and scalability.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the accounting operations.
  • Implement training, tools, and systems to drive efficiency and accuracy across the organization.
  • Develop and optimise key financial procedures.
  • Own the preparation of consolidated financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS accounting standards.
  • Manage annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Execute the organization’s global tax strategy, ensuring compliance with multi-jurisdictional regulations and optimising group tax efficiency.
  • Oversee complex tax planning, transfer pricing, and cross-border structuring in partnership with external advisors and internal stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and respond to international regulatory changes, assessing their strategic and financial impact on the business.
  • Provide senior counsel on the tax implications of global expansion, new events, and commercial transactions.
  • Provide global leadership and oversight of statutory audits across all international entities, ensuring alignment with IFRS and local reporting standards.
  • Strengthen governance and internal control frameworks to safeguard financial integrity and compliance across regions.
  • Partner with external auditors and regional finance leaders to deliver transparent, high-quality reporting to the CFO and Audit Committee.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and operational excellence across global finance operations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, audit, regulatory, licensing obligations relevant to media / sports / events.
  • Identify and manage financial and operational risks: regulatory, fiscal, contract, insurance, foreign exchange etc.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop the accounting and tax teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and service to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Ensure cross-departmental collaboration and communication, including strong partnership with FP&A, to deliver monthly, quarterly and annual reports and commentary.
  • Report to CFO; prepare Audit Committee reports, financial dashboards, investor updates.
  • Work with external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners.
  • Interact with Investor as needed to align reporting and best practices.
Required Skills
  • 15+ years of senior leadership experience in finance and accounting, ideally within a global, high-growth or scale-up environment.
  • Proven experience implementing and scaling finance systems and ERPs.
  • Exposure to international operations, multi-currency, and FX management.
  • Understanding of global tax issues and transfer pricing.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, internal controls, and compliance.
  • Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, ambiguous environments with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate financial concepts for non‑financial stakeholders.
  • High integrity and strong ethical standards.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a must.
Desirable
  • Big 4 experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in sports, media, events, or entertainment sectors.
  • Familiarity with media rights, sponsorship, and broadcast contracts.
