The FCA Client Asset (CASS) rules are designed to keep client assets safe, particularly in events of a firm’s failure. Compliance with the CASS rules is of fundamental importance and is a focus for the UK regulator and the firm.
What is the role?This is an entry level Graduate or equivalent workplace experience hire, reporting to the CASS Manager. The CASS Analyst will be responsible for helping the firm comply with the FCA CASS rules. You will be part of a team interacting with the wider business, and will play a key part in the delivery of all CASS actions and administration.
What does the role involve?- Perform daily internal and external client money and custody reconciliations.
- Undertake root cause and trend analysis to enable the production of daily and monthly MI.
- Assist in the production of materials for the monthly CASS Committee governance meeting.
- Identify, document and escalate CASS breaches, and collaborate with the wider business to implement effective controls.
- Support change initiatives with an impact on CASS processes.
- Support CASS meetings with minutes and follow up actions.
- Represent the CASS team in relevant discussions and meetings.
- Facilitate internal & external CASS audits and monitoring programmes, supporting walkthroughs and sampling.
- Have excellent attention to detail and take pride in the quality and accuracy of their output.
- Have high levels of organisation and be self‑motivated with the ability to effectively prioritise, manage own time and work to deadlines.
- Be able to build and maintain positive professional relationships.
- Have the ability to challenge others in an appropriate way.
- A bachelor’s degree in accountancy or related field (or equivalent workplace experience).
- Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills with the ability to compile and evaluate data for decision making.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Desirable: good understanding of financial services.
- Desirable: FCA CASS experience and knowledge, particularly chapters 6 and 7 of the FCA CASS source book.
- Desirable: completion of CISI CASS Level 3 qualification.
