Finance Assistant – BEXLEY HEALTH NEIGHBOURHOOD CARE C.I.C.

Job Title: Finance Assistant
Salary Range: £27,485 to £30,162 (depending on experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (excluding breaks)
Employment Type: Permanent
Location: BHNC Office

Job Summary

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will work with the Assistant Finance Manager to support a seamless finance function. The role covers accounts payable, invoice management, account set‑up, reconciliation and closure of accounts, chasing outstanding payments, timely query resolution, receivables, maintenance of the Quick Books system, bank reconciliation, general ad‑hoc support and payroll administration.

This role requires a flexible, organised and experienced administrator with excellent communication skills, IT literacy and proficiency in Excel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support day‑to‑day finance functions from sales and purchase ledgers to daily cash postings and bank reconciliations.
  • Liaise with budget holders and external suppliers.
  • Provide advice, guidance and support on finance administration practice and procedures.
  • Handle queries about finance‑related matters proactively and resolve them.
  • Ensure accurate data for monthly reports and invoice management.
  • Set up accounts, perform reconciliations, and close accounts.
  • Chase outstanding payments, resolve issues, and escalated where necessary.
  • Ensure invoices are accurately recorded, authorised and paid.
  • Coordinate and support payroll processes.
  • Resolve queries promptly, troubleshoot administrative problems and provide input to resolve.
  • Arrange meetings related to finance processes and build credible, trusting working relationships.
  • Organise and securely maintain personnel records and systems for processing data in accordance with GDPR and UK employment legislation.
  • Support core internal finance projects, including audit requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and support own development, learning and performance.
  • Work within BHNC policies and procedures.

About BEXLEY HEALTH NEIGHBOURHOOD CARE (BHNC)

BHNC is a GP Federation supporting 20 Bexley Practices, 4 PCNs, Erith Hospital and Queen Mary’s Urgent Treatment Centre. The organisation works collaboratively to enhance the health and wellbeing of Bexley residents (over 260,000 patients) and to secure the best services for patients while supporting member practices through NHS changes.

BHNC’s aims include improving morale among PCNs and general practices, sharing expertise, services, and supporting the workforce. BHNC works closely with the CCG, local NHS trusts, local providers and patient groups to improve the delivery of healthcare to the local population.
