the Role

Every person at Cleo cares about building financial products that are reliable, scalable, and genuinely improve our users’ lives. To do that, we need to deeply understand the data and systems that power Cleo’s financial ecosystem — from how money moves, to how partners report, to how we reconcile and monitor financial accuracy.

As a Data Analyst in the Finance & Operations team, you’ll be the analytical engine behind Cleo’s financial operations. You’ll work at the intersection of Finance Ops, Banking & Card Operations, Payments Infrastructure, and Product, using data to ensure our financial systems are accurate, resilient, and ready to scale.

Your work will uncover operational issues, strengthen partner data quality, and support the launch of new financial products and infrastructure — ultimately enabling Cleo to grow safely, efficiently, and profitably.

What you’ll be doing
  • Partnering with Product, Engineering, and Finance Ops to support launches such as Credit product expansion, AFT/OCT payments, and card infrastructure upgrades
  • Building and maintaining reconciliation dbt models and financial reporting pipelines that power accurate cash, settlement, refund, and transfer understanding
  • Designing operational analytics frameworks that identify issues early, reduce manual review, and ensure data quality across money movement flows
  • Developing reporting and dashboards used by Finance, Ops, Product, Engineering, and leadership to monitor financial accuracy and operational performance
  • Strengthening Cleo’s financial reliability by investigating and resolving discrepancies across partner systems (Web Bank, Tabapay, Unit, i2c) and internal data sources
  • Supporting root‑cause investigations across payment anomalies, partner mismatches, ingestion failures, and settlement irregularities
  • Influencing roadmap decisions by providing clear, data‑driven insights on operational performance, partner behaviour, and financial impact
  • Improving data governance, documentation, and QA processes across financial datasets to enhance reliability, auditability, and long‑term scalability
What we’re looking for Must‑haves
  • Analytics experience in data‑rich environments, like fintech, payments, banking, or financial operations
  • Highly proficient in SQL and comfortable working with complex or incomplete datasets
  • Hands‑on experience with BI tools (e.g. Looker, Mode, Tableau) and data workflow tools (dbt, Airflow)
  • A solid grasp of payments and partner‑generated financial data — ideally having worked closely with payment processors, issuing banks, or finance operations teams on settlements, reconciliations, or funds‑flow analysis
  • Strong ability to communicate findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Experience with data quality, documentation, and analytical governance
  • A bias for action and ownership—you’re excited to build from scratch, own it end‑to‑end, and deliver value fast
Nice‑to‑haves
  • Experience with operational analytics, including incident analysis and root‑cause investigation across complex financial or payments systems
  • Exposure to banking partners (issuers, program managers, processors)
  • Python for deeper analysis, automation, or data investigations
  • Experience with incident analysis or root‑cause investigation in operational systems
