Accounts Assistant, Watch House (12-month Fixed Term)

In short:

The Accounts Assistant at Watch House supports the smooth running of the finance function through accurate, timely and well‑organised accounting and administrative support. Working closely with the Accounts Manager and Finance Director, the role plays an important part in ensuring financial processes run efficiently and with care.

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term maternity cover role, ideal for someone looking to build hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, growing business. Success in this role requires a strong sense of diligence, a drive to get things right, empathy when working with stakeholders across the business, and a passion for learning and development within finance.

Reporting lines:
Accounts Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process supplier and customer invoices accurately and in line with agreed timelines.
  • Manage accounts payable activities, including payment setup and query resolution.
  • Support accounts receivable processes, including customer invoicing.
  • Manage finance inboxes and respond to internal and external queries in a timely manner.
  • Complete bank and account reconciliations, escalating discrepancies where required.
  • Track, review and process employee and House expenses via Pleo and other approved methods.
  • Compile and organise financial data to support reporting and month‑end processes.
  • Support online purchasing and related administrative tasks.
  • Provide day‑to‑day support to the Accounts Manager and Finance Director.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, documentation and filing systems.

  • An interest in, or qualification related to, finance or accounting.
  • A positive, can‑do approach, balanced with empathy and professionalism.

The Accounts Assistant plays a key supporting role within the Watch House finance team, contributing to the accuracy, organisation and reliability of financial information across the business.

Day to day, the role is responsible for processing invoices, reconciling accounts and managing finance‑related correspondence, ensuring that transactions are recorded correctly and efficiently. Strong attention to detail is essential, as the role helps maintain financial controls and supports wider reporting and compliance requirements.

The Accounts Assistant works closely with colleagues across the business, responding to queries with professionalism and empathy, and supporting teams to follow finance processes correctly. This role also provides exposure to a range of finance activities, offering a valuable development opportunity for someone building a career in accounting or finance.

Throughout the role, a consistent focus on diligence, accuracy and accountability is essential, helping ensure Watch House continues to operate with financial integrity as the business grows.
