Responsibilities- Maintain and protect the borough's highways, bridges and drainage systems.
- Plan and deliver both planned and reactive maintenance for bridges and drainage systems, including iconic structures such as Chelsea and Albert Bridges.
- Manage projects end‑to‑end, from scoping and estimating costs to commissioning contractors and overseeing delivery.
- Conduct regular site inspections, assess conditions, supervise installations and ensure compliance with specifications, time and budget.
- Represent the Council with partners such as TfL, private developers and residents, and review designs from developers and internal teams.
- Implement sustainable design opportunities where possible.
- Maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Qualified engineer with HNC or degree in a relevant technical subject.
- Experience managing highway or infrastructure schemes from start to finish.
- Comfortable supervising works on site and managing multiple tasks.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain technical issues to stakeholders.
- Strong relationship‑building, expectation management and collaborative working ability.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
