DVA Engineer - Contract Opportunity
Location:
Midlands (Hybrid options)
Contract:
3-6 months, Outside IR35
We are seeking an experienced DVA Engineer to support a automotive OEM. This role is ideal for someone with strong dimensional analysis expertise and deep knowledge of 3
DCS modelling.
- Define, validate, and optimise the complete vehicle dimensional concept.
- Apply Design Variation Analysis (DVA) tools to evaluate multiple concepts and validate optimal vehicle solutions.
- Lead Engineering Release (ER) sign-off across all components for new model programmes.
- Support Perceived Quality teams to define vehicle gap & flush targets.
- Work cross‑functionally to develop the complete dimensional control concept across major exterior and interior systems.
- Build detailed 3
DCS tolerance simulation models to evaluate design capability and reporting insights against functional and aesthetic targets. - Attend design reviews, highlight lessons learned, and feed dimensional concerns into the client s fault management system.
- Develop a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and tooling philosophies.
- Provide input into assembly sequence planning and assembly concept decision-making.
- Ensure FT&A/GD&T complies with BS8888 and ISO
1101 and aligns with manufacturing requirements. - Support datum strategy creation for jigs, fixtures, and measurement plans.
- Manage internal standards and training documentation for 3
DCS model creation.

DCS experience - Strong background in Dimensional Variation Analysis
- Solid understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
- Ability to interpret and validate complex vehicle dimensional concepts
- Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
- Proven experience within automotive new product development
- Degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering (2:1+ preferred) or equivalent experience
- Experience using CATIA V5
- Understanding of GD&T in line with BS8888
- Exposure to 8D / PPS problem‑solving
- Knowledge of assembly processes across composites, polymers, pressings, castings, etc.
- Basic understanding of jigs, fixtures, SPC, and process capability
- Methodical with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Self‑starter with the ability to work independently
